Public, not world leaders, end extreme poverty within a generation

All too often our campaigns call on world leaders to ‘solve’ our global problems – foremost amongst them extreme poverty. The Global Poverty Project has just challenged this by releasing a personalised video (below, or full site at wnnn.tv) that depicts how each of us, not world leaders, can make a difference and end extreme poverty within a generation.

The two minute video makes you the hero who is praised by world leaders and celebrities for ending extreme poverty. After entering your name, you witness a news report of how the world is reacting to your amazing achievements. World leaders, celebrities and the public applaud your efforts in a series of funny, challenging and enlightening scenarios – including the revelation that aid agencies are closing for lack of work.

The message is that ending extreme poverty won’t happen overnight, and it won’t be one single person who does it. Rather, it’s a global movement of millions of people like you – who over a generation can and are seeing an end to extreme poverty.

The video was developed by the Global Poverty Project and its partners to build momentum in the lead up to a meeting of world leaders in New York in late September to review progress on Millennium Development Goals – the series of eight Goals designed to halve extreme poverty by 2015.
