1.4 Billion Reasons for Universities is an interactive and engaging education tool designed to introduce University students to the issue of extreme poverty.

Based on leading research, and endorsed by development and economics experts, the University Presentation explores what it means to live in extreme poverty, addresses barriers to achieving development outcomes, and provides students with the tools they need to take action. It tells the 'big picture' story of the movement to end extreme poverty, and provides a framework through which development issues can be considered.

We recommend 1.4 Billion Reasons for Universities for:

  • Clubs and Societies: to engage members with the issue of extreme poverty, and introduce them to the simple actions they can take to make a difference,
  • Lecture Series: to provide students with an insight into the ways that different disciplines impact on development outcomes, and provide a comprehensive overview of development issues,
  • Development or Political Studies Courses: as an introductory framework to consider development issues. We can work with lecturers to ensure that we tailor the content to suit the particular needs and outcomes of a unit.

Working in partnership with leading academics, charities and organisations around the world, The Global Poverty Project is a grassroots movement that you and your University can be part of.
