Today 1000 young people embarked on a nationwide road trip of Australia for MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY, organised by our friends at The Oaktree Foundation. This roadtrip is the second of its kind organised by the Foundation after the resounding success of the first one in 2007 which led to the government's promise to increase aid quantity to 0.5% of Gross National Income by 2015. Leaving from every major city in Australia, the road-trippers are spreading the message and raising awareness about global poverty. Their work highlights how ordinary people can and do effect change through effective campaigning and activism and that we are all globally connected. By mobilising support to end extreme global poverty organisations such as The Oaktree Foundation enable young people in the Global South to free themselves from the constraints of a life of poverty so that they too may realise their dreams and aspirations. They show that the ability to bring about real change lies in all of us and their incredible achievements demonstrate the power of ordinary young people to mobilise and to bring about sustainable, effective and far-reaching change. And, we've got Renee and Albert from our team on the Roadtrip, so check out our Twitter and Facebook over the next week to hear the latest on what's happening.
